Banana and Oats Porridge | for Babies 6 Months Up
½ tablespoon oats
1 small banana
water for cooking
1 Ground oats in blender then cook in a pan of water, stirring constantly to prevent clumping till soft. Continue to stir while simmering to prevent sticking.
2 Cook till porridge like consistency forms.
3 Add the mashed banana to the porridge and serve your baby.
4 Vary this with other pureed fruits and vegetables such as apple, or squash.
5 Substitute oatmeal with millet, again to offer more variety.
Oats are high in fiber, B vitamins, calcium and can be given to your baby from 4 months of age. Rolled oats offer more benefits than instant or quick oats and will take longer cooking time comparatively. It may contain traces of gluten so its best to check with your pediatrician if there is a family history of allergy.
