Buckwheat Porridge | for Babies 6 Months Up
300ml formula milk or breast milk
2 tbsp fine buckwheat flour
1. Warm milk in saucepan. Add the flour and allow to cook on moderate heat for about 8 to 10 minutes.
2. Allow to cool before serving. Depending on the thickness required, add more milk if necessary.
3. The consistency should be smooth, not too thick. No sweetener is necessary as the milk you are using has its own sweetness. Buckwheat is a gluten-free flour perfect cereal for babies this age.
4. You may want to add a fruit e.g. banana or any other to vary the taste and texture.
Interestingly buckwheat is neither a grain nor from the wheat family. It is usually milled for easier, faster cooking and is a rich source of most vitamins and minerals.
