It is important to remember that babies need fat for the necessary bodily functions and growth, and it is therefore not advisable to cut back on fats at this point or introduce low-fat foods into baby's diet. By doing this you will be compromising on baby's health and development. You can make changes by including healthy fats (use olive oil, butter) and cutting out unhealthy fats when preparing baby's meals. Fattening and unhealthy snacking in the form of cakes and cookies and other processed foods should be eliminated Stick to healthy snacks. Further, low-fat foods are processed such to contain added chemicals and artificial ingredients to improve the texture and food appeal. Have your pediatrician check and advise you if your baby's weight is appropriate for his age. Also note that some babies are naturally heavily set.
