At what age can I give baby chopped food instead of pureed ones?


Not all babies are the same. You will have to watch your baby and from there assess what is manageable and suitable. If your baby seems quite comfortable with finger foods such as cooked pieces of vegetable then you can perhaps move on to the next stage of chopping and mashing cooked foods and therefore varying the texture to a coarser one. For babies who seem ready for a change in texture, stage 3 foods are appropriate at this time. If we are talking about homemade food here, do not puree but mash and leave in some chunks. Let your baby adjust to mashed foods for a while before moving to finely chopped food. For babies who are not able to manage a difference in texture due to gagging and frequent vomiting, it is better to stick to mush foods for a while longer.
