What finger foods can baby take now?

Finger foods can be offered to your baby from around 7 to 8 months onwards. Well cooked vegetables which are easy to chew and swallow make good finger foods which some babies like to self-feed. Picking up and eating food helps in the hand-eye coordination. Encourage the habit of chewing and self-feeding by including well-cooked carrot, green beans and cauliflower or broccoli florets on her tray. Thin slices of peeled ripe apple and pear, banana chunks, papaya or melon cubes can also be given. Mini rice cakes or toasted bread, cooked pasta shapes, hard cheese diced or cut into strips are also foods your baby will love to self-feed. Occasional gagging is possible but part of the game. There is no need for alarm since most of the time babies are able to resolve the problem.
