It is easier to breast or bottle feed your child then preparing and feeding your baby solid food and mothers will often resort to the easier method because of their busy schedules. Babies in turn will prefer filling up through suckling than eating from a spoon. Inconsistency in feeding patterns causes confusion in babies. Babies learn from repetition and routine. Knowing what to expect helps to build that routine. Consistency on the caregiver's part will certainly remove the confusion. At this stage, your baby should be having 3 meals with his bottles or breast-feeds between meals.
