What about the cost of the scans?

2D scans are widely available and most commonly used in all stages of pregnancy by most practitioners. In comparison they are not as expensive. 3D and 4D on the other hand are high definition ultrasounds which use expensive, sophisticated equipments; they tend to be costly. They are typically performed during the second trimester to assess the baby's size and to look for abnormalities. Check if there is an insurance cover and also if you will be given a CD of the images should you opt for this type of scan.
