Can cesarean be avoided and how?

In some situations surgical birth is the only way out. But in situations when it can be avoided then most mothers will do their best to work towards having a normal birth. On your part you can check around for a physician and/or hospital with a low cesarean rate and where the philosophy is more pro non-surgical delivery but with adequate standby facilities should intervention in a true emergency become necessary. Other ways to reduce the risk of unnecessary surgery includes eating well and exercising during pregnancy, moving around during labor to help baby descend, staying at home during early labor, being familiar with your birth options and discussing your choices with your doctor or midwife.
