How can you tell when baby is hungry and when baby is full?

A newborn will show you she's hungry by rooting and nuzzling toward your chest area, or sucking on her fists or making sucking sounds, and if these go unheeded, she may start to cry. Try to feed her before she cries. A crying baby however may not necessarily be a hungry baby. Babies indicate they are full by falling asleep, by chewing on the teat, by stopping the sucking, by crying when you try to force the bottle on them or by turning their head away from the bottle. Never force your baby to have more than she wants. Even if you feel she hasn't had enough resist the urge to force her to finish the bottle. On the other hand if your baby wants to have more, give her more. Your baby knows how much she wants and how often - you just need to understand and follow her cues.
